The Scene
Though the facade is rather subtle and easily missed on busy Broadway (the main downtown drag in The Dells), step inside and it feels like a Munich beer hall. Grab a seat at the bar or one of the big indoor tables--or head outside onto the smallish patio if the weather's nice. Servers are dressed in German garb and remain patient, even while dealing with large groups that may have had a few too many liters.
The Draw
It's rugged, stick-to-the-bones food that's served in mega-proportions. The German platters range from sausage samplers to schnitzel to sauerbraten. Or get really aggressive and go for one of the "boss hog" selections--the big pig (one pound of roasted pork), a 12-inch wiener schnitzel (breaded and deep-fried pounded pork) or the 18-inch smoked sausage. Smaller appetites can go for the sandwiches or burgers.
