The Scene
The dress-code sign (no cut-off sleeves allowed) sets the tone for this upscale restaurant. The dark, lounge-bar area provides a quiet spot to sip a cocktail and have a smoke, while the dining room features soft piano music and low-key lighting. The outdoor patio, while small, offers umbrella seating for those crisp cool evenings. This is not a children-friendly restaurant, but a more grown-up atmosphere for special occasions.
The Food
This place has been famous for its steak since 1943, when it was just a wee roadside shack. And its no wonder, the center-cut filet mignon, wrapped in bacon, was tender and perfectly prepared. The broiled sea scallops were large and served in a tangy vermouth sauce. However, while the tempura shrimp were large, the breading was a bit soggy on the inside. The wine list is extensive and even features several local wine selections.

This place is supposed to be like a gem in the Dells. My husband and i have dined there 2 times and it's not all its cracked up to be. The cheesecake is HORRIBLE there. The steaks are good to be fair, but it is definitely overrated. Also the owners are snooty - they used to play golf at a course i worked at and were NOT very friendly towards staff!!!!!
Pros: steaks are cooked well
Cons: pretty much everything else, overpriced
